
About Mick
Mick started working in independent financial advice in 1984 before concluding his Maths degree at Manchester University.
Initially, he worked as an actuarial trainee before becoming a pension consultant. Mick has specialised in technical pensions ever since.
Mick set up and ran the financial services arm of a firm of solicitors in 1993, before establishing his own firm in 1999, which he ran single-handedly from 2008.
Mick joined Astute in April 2021, and now deals mainly with investments and pensions for individual clients.
Mick won the prestigious Chartered Insurance Institute Scottish Equitable K10 Retirement Options Merit Award in 2002, and in 2007 was awarded Chartered Financial Planner status.
Mick is a widower and works from home in Egerton, Bolton. His daughter, Kristin, started studying Psychology at Hull University in September 2023.
Mick has been involved in chess for nearly 50 years. Mick was president of the Manchester Chess Federation for four years, and remains heavily involved in chess administration.
In what little spare time remains, Mick enjoys reading, walking, Pilates, visiting art galleries and museums, and attending various sporting events.
